L&N NE-5 Caboose 6447

Built by the International Car Company in Kenton, Ohio in 1974. The Louisville and Nashville railroad had a long tradition of designing and building its own cabooses in house. In 1974 the L&N broke with this tradition and ordered 50 brand new cabooses form the ICC. Numbers 6425 through 6474. The 50 new cabooses were built for the average cost of $33,543.32 each. 6447 was originally in the classic L&N red and yellow paint scheme but only stayed that way for less than a year before receiving its Family Lines paint scheme.
